The Lighting Practice is proud to announce that October 2014 marks our 25th year in the business of lighting design. TLP was founded in 1989 by Al Borden. Since then, The Lighting Practice’s leadership has grown to four Principals: Helen K. Diemer, FIALD, LEED AP, Alfred R. Borden, FIALD, Michael A. Barber, Associate IALD, LEED AP BD+C, and Jered E. Widmer, MIES, IALD.The Lighting Practice was started as a place where creative people could work in a collaborative environment dedicated to lighting design excellence and client service. This approach has brought us success in a variety of markets sectors: corporate, education, healthcare, retail, historic preservation, parks and public spaces, entertainment, hospitality, residential and places of worship. Over the years, we have attracted a talented staff, trained in various disciplines such as theater, architecture, interior design, and architectural engineering. They all bring a strong commitment to responsible and innovative design, industry engagement and thoughtful customer service. Our team makes us successful.
