The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), recently celebrated three TLP projects at the 2020 ICSC Global Awards—North America. The ICSC Global Awards recognizes the premier trends of retail projects, developments, renovations, expansions, and store design.
Mellody Farm, Vernon Hills, IL awarded Silver in the New Developments Category.

Mellody Farm is a modern, upscale mixed-use development with 260,000-SF of retail and 260 luxury apartments. ICSC states that “the project’s mix of modern-industrial and eclectic architecture, rustic finishes, lush landscaping, vibrant murals, music system, and artisan-crafted benches, creates an enjoyable customer experience.” Jered Widmer, Principal, and John Howell, Lighting Designer II, provided lighting design services for all retail exterior facades and site amenities.
Ballston Quarter, Arlington, VA awarded Silver in the Renovations/Expansions category and Gold in the Sustainable Category.

The reimagined retail and dining development was transformed into a modern entertainment hub. Current and future tenants include an interactive adventure venue, a bowling alley/restaurant hybrid, a boxing gym, four sit-down restaurants, an open-air courtyard with live music events, and many others. Helen Diemer, Principal, Pomme Lee, Project Manager, and Amanda Constantine, Lighting Designer I, designed the lighting system for Ballston Quarter’s Quarter Market including the Food Hall and Dining Gallery, and management offices. With a condensed project schedule and tight budget, TLP arranged standard off-the-shelf lighting products to create unique focal points and resulted in a customized look and feel.
La Plaza Mall, McAllen,TX was recognized as a finalist in the Renovations/Expansions Category.

The renovation and expansion of the La Plaza Mall features new feature entries, an outdoor amenity patio, and ample daylight through the concourses. The upscale interior FF&E and lighting design serve as a backdrop for high-end retail tenants and restaurants, creating an enjoyable shopping experience for visitors. Jered Widmer, Principal, provided lighting design for both the mall renovation and expansion.
