JACK Thistledown Racino’s grand opening is underway. The Lighting Practice’s Helen Diemer and David Seok worked with KA Architecture, who led the design of the Racino expansion.
Our team provided lighting design services for the building expansion which includes: the new entry, lobby, and the massive interior green wall. TLP provided accent and general lighting for the new steakhouse, feature bar, and gaming area. LEDs were used throughout. Color-changing LEDs will accent the building’s façade and garage exterior. Currently, we are working on the interior renovations to the existing building.

NORTH RANDALL, Ohio – A large plant wall, new restaurants and a sports bar are part of a $70 million expansion at Jack ThistleDown Racino.
The racino will hold a grand opening celebration beginning Friday that will include live bands and car giveaways. A restaurant and pasta bar will open that day.
Most of the new facilities opened Monday. They include a 1,000-space garage, 235 additional video lottery terminals and a live plant wall in the main lobby.
The plant wall was inspired by the biowall at the headquarters of UnderArmour, Jack Entertainment officials said.
Jack Entertainment, formerly Rock Gaming, owns and operates the racino and the Cleveland and Cincinnati Horseshoe casinos.
The racino was the first to transition to the new brand.
The 90-year-old racetrack, which straddles North Randall and Warrensville Heights, underwent an $88 million renovation before opening as a racino in April 2013.
