As a leader in lighting design, The Lighting Practice works with some of the brightest and most proficient designers in the country. Providing cutting-edge lighting design solutions is a testament to the team’s commitment to continued learning and understanding our clients’ needs.
Jered Widmer CLD, IALD, MIES, Principal and Director of The Lighting Practice’s Dallas office, has earned the Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) designation, the first international, evidence-based certification in architectural lighting design. Jered is among the few lighting designers in the world to earn this international certification, which demonstrates that he has a proven track record of excellence and has successfully validated his skill to a rigorous assessment process that defines high standards of professional practice.
The certification process, governed by the Certified Lighting Design Commission, is designed to assess the ability to operate as a lead architectural lighting designer in a professional and proficient manner by considering a person’s imaginative, technical, and professional responsibility skills.
“Jered lives and breathes lighting design, dedicating countless hours to both local and national IALD organizations. This certification is a testament to his commitment to the craft and his contributions to the growth of the lighting design community,” says TLP President Michael Barber Design IALD, LEED AP BD+C. He continues “This is a tremendous achievement—not only for Jered but for The Lighting Practice as well. As Principal and Director of our Dallas office, Jered brings extensive experience and industry knowledge to our Dallas-Fort Worth clients and beyond. We are thrilled for him and excited to see his future successes.”
Jered Widmer joined The Lighting Practice in 2001 upon graduation from The Pennsylvania State University. Director of TLP’s Dallas office, he has been designing architectural lighting for corporate, retail, historic, hospitality, education, healthcare, and places of worship. The diverse work in these sectors allows him to merge creative principles and techniques to enhance the user environment for a more successful project. He educates clients and team members through a collaborative design process, facilitating a better understanding of the impact of lighting.
“As a lighting design professional, the CLD certification is a badge of honor, it is important for me to be a steward and educate colleagues and clients on the value of this certification,” says Jered Widmer. He continues, “The CLD serves to elevate the lighting design discipline, lend credibility to architectural lighting design, and provide confidence to clients that the designs being delivered and executed are thoughtful, balanced, and positively impactful.”
The Lighting Practice is proud of Jered for achieving his CLD certification, proving his dedication to growing his knowledge in lighting design.
