Coming on the heels of its New York office’s grand opening, The Lighting Practice is proud to announce its certification as a Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) through the NYC Department of Small Business Services.
For a business to qualify as a WBE, at least 51 percent of the company must be owned, operated and controlled by women. The Lighting Practice is also WBE certified in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and nationally through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.
WBE certification has opened many doors for The Lighting Practice as a leading national lighting consultant. “Being WBE certified has exposed us to new firms and has given us more opportunities in marketplaces like transportation, streetscape, and federally-funded projects,” said Helen Diemer, FIALD, LEED AP, President of The Lighting Practice. “The greatest benefit has been with existing clients who see our WBE certification as an enhancement when they are working on projects where there are mandates and/or project goals to include a certain percentage of historically disadvantaged businesses, such as MBE, WBE and DBE.”
Located in the Financial District of New York City, The Lighting Practice’s new office is led by Principal Alfred Borden, FIALD, CLD and Associate Principal Jon Hoyle.
