The Lighting Practice recently designed an upgrade for the interior lighting in Princeton University’s Proctor Hall. Unfortunately, this historic and regal space was only fully appreciated during the day when daylight streaming through the windows highlighted the dramatic arched ceiling. TLP developed a creative way to highlight the ceiling without distorting the architecture or original chandeliers featured in the space. This was achieved by strategically placing miniature LED light fixtures along the top of the chandeliers. These fixtures illuminate the arched ceiling as well as the chain links supporting the chandeliers themselves. TLP also selected new LED reflector lamps for the glass diffusers on each chandelier. The existing CFL lamps created intense glare, making it uncomfortable to look at the chandeliers. The new reflector lamps control the brightness and allow everyone to enjoy the beautiful chandeliers.
Princeton University showcased the newly renovated Proctor Hall this past October during the ‘Many Minds, Many Stripes’ Conference. Below is a link to an article about this great event.
