Philadelphia’s Center City District, a non-profit organization dedicated to making Center City cleaner, safer, and more attractive, sought to create a new office environment that promotes collaboration and social interaction. The vision for the office was to unite all departments with flexible, communal spaces designed to foster creativity and teamwork, while also providing privacy with dedicated video conferencing rooms and quiet lounges for focused work.
Upon entering the building, visitors are welcomed by double-height windows, allowing natural daylight to flood the space. Catenary lighting in the main entryway evokes the feeling of an outdoor space, reflecting the organization’s commitment to public improvement. Downlights throughout the hallways provide uniform illumination, while decorative fixtures enhance the collaborative work areas. This thoughtful design creates an office that is not only functional and collaborative but also reflective of the organization’s mission to create a brighter, more inviting downtown Philadelphia.
