The University of Pennsylvania’s Stouffer Hall Dormitory recently underwent a $35.35 million transformation, seamlessly blending its original 1970s design with a modern aesthetic. This mixed-use building now features retail shops on the ground floor, topped by two residence halls. The renovation prioritized creating a healthy indoor environment, aiming for LEED Gold Certification. During the day, abundant natural light floods the space, minimizing the need for artificial lighting and minimizing energy usage. At night, the building transforms into a warm and inviting atmosphere, with well-lit amenity spaces that foster community engagement. The layered lighting design ensures optimal illumination throughout the various dorm rooms and communal areas.
